What are you currently reading?

Little travel stories.  Some of them might be slightly dated but I like Cahill’s style.

No Footprints in the Bush by Arthur Upfield
Detective fiction that takes place in Australia.  It was an interesting change from most of the mysteries I’ve read.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m in the mood for some James Bond.

I wanted a light easy read and I thought this would fit the bill.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
The book does make you think but unfortunately I wanted to be done with long before it was over.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m thinking about Endurance by Alfred Lansing. But I also need a Y title for my A to Z challenge so I’m also thinking about The Year of the Monkey by Carole Berry.

What are you currently reading?

Holmes on the Range by Steve Hockensmith
I just started this so I don’t have much to say about it yet.

What did you recently finish reading?

Death in the Long Grass by Peter Capstick
Death is right.  Everyone is getting chewed on, gored, and smashed to paste.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Lavender-Green Magic by Andre Norton
I have had this on my shelf for a long time and since I have a color reading challenge going on I think it’s about time I got to it.

What are you currently reading?

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

I’m still reading this. I’m surprised. Usually when I’m this into a story I would have been done long ago. I’m reading everything slowly at the moment though. I’m sure it will pick back up soon.

The Lost Chalice by Vernon Silver

This could be interesting but I don’t think I’ve gotten far enough in to truly be involved with the story yet. We shall see.

What did you recently finish reading?

Black Count by Tom Reiss

This is very interesting. I didn’t know about this guy at all. For those who are interested in French history or are fans of Dumas.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Looking for Przybylski by K. C. Frederick

It’s a book I got for review so I’d like to get going on that soon.

Black Count by Tom Reiss

It is about the father of Alexandre Dumas who was his inspiration for many of his stories.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

I just started this one so I can’t say much but even in the first few pages it is showing promise.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Mourner by Richard Stark

Violence, crime and the double cross. What’s not to like?

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Lost Chalice by Vernon Silver

I’m still trying to finish up my non-fiction non-memoir reading challenge so if it isn’t this one it will be another non-fiction one.

What are you currently reading?

Euclid’s Window by Leonard Mlodinow
It’s all about geometry. Not for everyone but so far it is very readable and doesn’t have too many numbers.

Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea by Fred Bruemmer
So far this has been equal parts about unicorn myths and narwhals.

What did you recently finish reading?

A Cup Full of Midnight by Jaden Terrell
A murder mystery that got pretty dark and was kind of gruesome at times. If you’re okay with that it is a good book.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Culinary Reactions by Simon Quellen Field
I just picked it up from the library and it looks pretty interesting. Besides I’m kind of behind on my non-fiction reading challenge and need to get going on that.

What are you currently reading?

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
A lot of ‘80’s pop culture references.  I get most of them but I don’t know if anyone younger than me will remember all this stuff.  Although I think gamers will like this book.

What did you recently finish reading?

Dolphin People by Torsten Krol
A very interesting book.  And slightly odd.  I think I liked it.

What do you think you’ll read next?

A Cup Full of Midnight by Jaden Terrell
I got it from the Early Reviewers from Librarything and I’m trying to keep on top of the reviews I have to write so I want to get started on it soon.

What are you currently reading?

Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
I’m beginning to wonder if I read too many kid’s books.

Sweet Invention by Michael Krondl
It’s the history of dessert.  I haven’t gotten very far.  I got distracted by Peter Pan.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti
Sad and sweet.  Dark but hopeful. Good characters.

What do you think you’ll read next?

It’s inspired by Peter Pan and the reason I picked up Peter Pan in the first place.

I love Westlake’s comedy crime novels.

Remote Control by Jack Heath

The second book in a young adult series. I like them. They are fun and quick to read.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I think I’ll start Circumference by Nicholas Nicastro. I bought it a while ago and just never got around to reading it. I think it’s time.

What are you currently reading?

One of Our Thursdays is Missing by Jasper Fforde

This had a slow start but it’s picking up a little so I still have hope.

The Knight in History by Frances Gies

This looks like it is going to have a lot of information and most of it interesting but it might be rather dense and not as readable as I had hoped.

What did you recently finish reading?

Wasp by Eric Frank Russell

One man is sent to an alien planet to see how much havoc he can wreak to help the war effort.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I have no idea. I just got a review copy of The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker. So maybe that. Then again, maybe not.

What are you currently reading?

The Gods of Gotham by Lyndsay Faye

The New York has just started the police force and some people don’t like it. It’s a dark time and a rather grim story so far but I like it.

Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare

I like Shakespeare and stories about Caesar and stuff like that so I’m liking this too. But it always takes me a little while to get into the swing of reading it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammett

Not my favorite Hammett but still full of noir goodness.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Planets by Dava Sobel – it’s a library book so I’ll have to return it sooner or later and I want to use it for my Non-Fiction Non-Memoir reading challenge.

A whole lot of secrets and deceit and I have no idea how it will all turn out.

Storm Front by Jim Butcher

I thought I’d give the Dresden Files a try. So far I’m liking it

What did you recently finish reading?

The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

A young adult book that tells the ‘true’ story of Alice in Wonderland.

Role of Honor by John Gardner

James Bond. He beats the bad guys and gets the girl.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I received a review copy of The Gods of Gotham by Lyndsay Faye that I think I’ll get started on. It takes place during the potato famine when and the NYPD is just being formed.

What are you currently reading?

Star Guard by Andre Norton
Humans are the mercenaries of the universe.  It doesn’t seem all that noble but at least it looks like we’re good at it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Monday the Rabbi Took Off by Harry Kemelman
Less about the mystery than it is about the people.  There are a lot of words in what I assume are in Hebrew and they talk about ceremonies and parts of the Jewish faith that I am unfamiliar with but that is part of the reason I like it.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m thinking of reading either The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti or The Turnaround by George Pelecanos.  No particular reason, they have just both been on my shelf for a while now and I thinking I should get to them.

What are you currently reading?

Child of Tomorrow by Barbara Bartholomew
Second of The Time Keeper trilogy. I read these when I was a kid. I’m sure they seemed more exciting to me then. They aren’t bad. They could be a good way to take a break from heavier reading. I just wouldn’t call them great.

The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean
Stories from the periodic table. I haven’t gotten very far yet but I like stories about science and these seem like I will even be able to understand them.

What did you recently finish reading?

Sex on the Moon by Ben Mezrich
Spurred on by his love of a beautiful girl Thad Roberts decides to steal moon rocks from NASA. It’s an interesting story but I have to say that if a guy wants to impress me an illegal act is not the way to do it.

The Time Keeper by Barbara Bartholomew

What do you think you’ll read next?

When Dreamers Cease to Dream by Barbara Bartholomew
The third in the trilogy so I might as well finish it up.

What are you currently reading?

Perelandra by C.S. Lewis
Second in a trilogy. And I’m still not sure how I feel about them. Maybe I can figure it out by the third book.

Before Versailles by Karleen Koen
I really like it so far. Unfortunately I started reading it right before I went into one of my moods where I don’t read anything, So I have been reading it for a long time and haven’t gotten very far. Which doesn’t do the book justice.

What did you recently finish reading?

Barlowe’s Guide to Extraterrestrials by Wayne Barlowe
A catalog of various aliens from various books with a picture of what they would look like. Just something fun and light.

What do you think you’ll read next?

It always pays to be prepared.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Girl She Used to Be by David Cristofano
It got a little dicey at the end but I liked it.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I think I’ll read something by Clive Cussler. I don’t know what yet but it’s been a while since I’ve read something by Cussler and I think I’m in the mood for one right about now.

What are you currently reading?

The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy
I want to like this. And honestly, I’m only on page 16 so maybe I’m jumping the gun a bit here, but I don’t think this is going to be my kind of book. I’ll finish it anyway though. I always do for some reason.

What did you recently finish reading?

Regarding Ducks and Universes by Neve Maslakovic
Parallel universes and mysterious government agencies controlling information and ideas. It’s a fun rather fast read with a hapless, likeable hero who just wanted to go on vacation and meet his double but ended up involved in so much more.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Well, I have several things checked out from the library that I should read but I’ll probably end up reading The Loving Spirit by Daphne Du Maurier.

What are you currently reading?

An Arsonist’s Guide to Writer’s Homes in New England by Brock Clarke
I’m liking it so far.

Then is the Power by Gerald W. Mills
Well, that’s what is on the cover of my book but I think he changed the title to No Place for Gods.

What did you recently finish reading?

Killing Girl Vol. 1: A Sister’s Love by Glen Brunswick
A graphic novel, the story is alright but I don’t like the artwork.

Hammer of the Gods: Mortal Enemies by Michael Avon Oeming
Another graphic novel, this one about Odin and Thor and such. I liked the artwork better in this one.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elisabeth Tova Bailey
It is interesting how attached to a snail someone can become.

Fafnir by Bernard Evslin

What did you recently finish reading?

How to Build A Robot Army by Daniel H. Wilson
After you build your robot army you will have to read his book How to Survive a Robot Uprising.

Immortality Inc. by Robert Sheckley
The basis for the movie Freejack. Although the two are not anything alike. Both interesting stories just not really the same story.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Last Unicorn by Peter Beagle

Madame Tussaud by Michelle Moran I finally started it for real. I like it so far. I think Moran writes great characters.

What did you recently finish reading?

Ex-Heroes by Peter Clines
Um… I like superheroes and I like zombies and there are a lot of both in this book and a lot of action but I didn’t find the characters very interesting.

Edgar and Ellen: Rare Beasts by Charles Ogden Okay. Fast and kind of fun but nothing spectacular.

What do you think you’ll read next?

How to Survive a Robot Uprising : Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion by Daniel H. Wilson.
I hope it’s as much fun as it sounds.
