Out to Sea

Today (June 29th 2026) is International Fisherman Day.  If you have ever enjoyed a good piece of fish, or any kind of seafood, you owe it to a fisherman.  It might even be you.  So, if you know any fishermen go out and thank them.  Or if you are a fisherman, accept this thank you from me.

Fisherman's Friends starring James Purefoy

A music executive stranded in Cornwall signs a group of fishermen to Universal Records to sing sea shanties.

This movie is a lot of fun.  There is a cast of great characters.  The acting is good.  The story is great (and sort of true).  You care about these people.  You want them to succeed.  You want the music executive to realize what is important and change his ways.  And I liked the singing.  The plot is a little predictable.  You can guess what is going to happen most of the time.  But watching this film just makes you feel good.  I laughed and cried.  And now I want to listen to some sea shanties.  It is not action packed, but it will keep you entertained through the whole film.
